The Jasenovac concentration camp was a systematically developed camp complex that was in operation from 1941 to 1945. As a memorial to the innocent victims of the camp, on July 1 1968 the area of the former concentration camp was declared the Jasenovac Memorial Area. The memorial area is dominated by the monument - the huge stone flower by the sculptor Bogdan Bogdanović. The holdings keep collections of original items that once belonged to the inmates or were used in the camp, and original documents, photographs and memoirs.
The curriculum of the newly opened Jasenovac Memorial Area Educational Centre has been designed particularly for the young. The Memorial Museum is open for visitors every working day from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and at weekends from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
